Turns out, marked variability in fetal heart rate isn’t benign  In fact, when it comes to the fetus, it’s akin to prolonged decels. This month, we’ll dive into some eye-opening studies that are stirring up our understanding big time:
- Lisa Liu, et al. (2015). Electronic fetal monitoring patterns associated with respiratory morbidity in term neonates. American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 213(6), 681.e1-6.
- Polzanek, et al. (2020). Marked variability in intrapartum electronic fetal heart rate patterns: Association with neonatal morbidity and abnormal arterial cord gas. Journal of Perinatology, 40(1), 56-62.
